Admissions Process 2027

More than just an exam: a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s background, interpersonal skills, and potential. You can demonstrate your readiness through the evidence that best represents you: the Primeira Escolha exam, your certificates and external exam scores, or a combination of both.

How It Works

A Three-Phase Process
Worth 100 Points Total

All applicants complete all three phases of their chosen track. No phase is elimination-based: it is the full picture that reveals who you are. Completing all three phases is required for admission.

PHASE 1

Up to 20 points

PREP — Your Presentation

Four online submissions, 5 points each: application form + personal characteristics inventory (with immediate self-knowledge feedback), academic transcript (even if partial), letter of recommendation (submitted directly by the recommender), and an introduction video of up to 3 minutes.

Points are awarded for completion — never for the content, style, or production quality.

PHASE 2

Up to 50 points

Academic Certification

Verification of academic background, through your best evidence: the Primeira Escolha exam and/or external certificates and exams (ENEM, SAT, IB, among others), all converted using a single, public scale — the Scoring TableYour highest score always counts, plus the Essay Essay, which is required for all candidates

PHASE 3

Up to 30 points

Interviews

Two one-on-one, ~25-minute conversations with trained, independent evaluators based on standardized scenarios. They assess three core competencies of future psychologists: Emotional resilience.

Passing requirements: overall score of 50 points or higher + completion of all three phases (including the Essay). Official offers follow the ranking order up to the available seats for the cycle — candidates not called are automatically placed on the waitlist for the following cycle without having to repeat any step.

Admission Tracks

Three entry pathways
choose yours (or apply to more than one)

Admission tracks are independent processes, each with its own capacity and rankings.
Applicants may apply through multiple tracks (one application fee per track) — PREP and interview scores will apply to all of them.

Academic Certification combines two parts: the Objective Component (up to 40 points) — where your highest score is applied — and the Essay (up to 10 points), completed by all candidates.

How Certificates Are Converted into Points

The Scoring Table uses the percentile of your score within that test's test-taking population: points = (percentile - 50) x 0,80Scoring at the median yields 0 points; the top percentile yields 40. Each exam has an eligibility floor (≈ percentil 45) to be accepted.

Exam Percentile P50 P60 P75 P85 P90 P95 P99+
Points (external certificate) 0 8 20 28 32 36 39–40
Points (each exam subject) 0 4 10 14 16 18 19–20
Practical examples: SAT 1200 $\approx$ 20 points · SAT 1350 $\approx$ 32 · IB 36 = 23 · IB 40 = 34 · ENEM: simple average of all five test scores, provided no score is below 500. On ENEM 2025, an average starting at 515.8 earns points; an average of 764.6 reaches the full 40 points. Full range available in Appendix E of the Notice of Admissions. Full conversion tables for all exams are in Appendix E — the Scoring Table is now Appendix E, and Appendix C is "Requirements".

Tiebreakers 1st, highest Academic Certification (AC) score; 2nd, highest Interview score; if a tie persists for the last available seat, all tied applicants will be offered admission.

The Primeira Escolha Exam

3h30 across two blocks
plenty of time to
demonstrate what you know

Admission tracks are independent processes, each with its own capacity and rankings.
Applicants may apply through multiple tracks (one application fee per track) — PREP and interview scores will apply to all of them.

Objective Section · ~2h Reference Time

16 Languages questions (full difficulty spectrum) + 16 Math questions — with no high-difficulty items: the exam measures core proficiency, not competition tricks. Assembled and scored using IRT (Item Response Theory), with equalized forms across sessions and cycles: no single session is easier or harder than another. Time allocation is generous: the vast majority of test-takers finish with tens of minutes to spare for review.

Essay Section · ~1h30 Reference Time

A text of up to 3,000 characters on a prompt revealed at exam time, related to psychology, individuals, and society. Free format — personal essay, letter, analytical piece, or reflection: you choose the style; prompt adherence is what matters. Evaluated using a public rubric across two dimensions (writing + expression and dialogue).

Rolling Admissions

Online, via the secure Pi-Browser, with live remote proctoring. Two sessions per cycle — Saturday at 9 AM or Wednesday at 6 PM, your choice. Equipment pre-testing is available in all cycles.

Scheduled Track

The same exam, in an on-site digital format, followed by interviews on the same day.

Only using external certificates?

You will only attend an exclusive 1h30 Essay session, held on the same days and times.

Retakes allowed

Candidates applying across multiple cycles can retake the exam — your best score always counts, never just the latest.

Equipment: computer (Windows 10+ or supported macOS) with webcam and microphone; the exam can be taken from Brazil or
abroad. Cell phones and tablets are not permitted for the exam. Applicants requiring specific accommodations have access to specialized support specialized support simply indicate this during registration (section 13 of the Notice of Admissions).

or ENEM scores?

Interviews

Two conversations
not an interrogation

Each applicant completes two individual interviews lasting approximately 25 minutes each, conducted by independent evaluators from Primeira Escolha’s,
trained and calibrated pool, worth up to 15 points each.

Purposeful Questioning

Ability to formulate questions to investigate and understand the other person — the foundational gesture of clinical practice.

Active Listening

Truly listening and reconstructing the speaker’s perspective before responding.

Emotional resilience

Regaining composure in intense human interactions — measured through structured reporting and observation, without any stress induction.

  • Each interview begins with a standardized digital interaction — a problem situation for you to explore — followed by a discussion about it with the interviewer; all candidates respond to equivalent stimuli evaluated through an anchored rubric.
  • In-person on campus, scheduled in date blocks per cycle; applicants who declare unavailability may complete them via video conference, with assisted scheduling.
  • Taken only once per admissions process: your score applies to all tracks you are applying for.

Why this process is different

Six commitments
to every applicant

The whole person, not a single test

Academic background, interpersonal skills, and potential all count together — 100 points across three complementary phases.

Your best evidence counts

Entrance exam, ENEM, SAT, IB, olympiads... submit whatever you have, retake whatever you choose, and your best score always applies.

No one is eliminated midway

All registered applicants go through all three phases. Those not admitted in a given cycle remain active for the next, without having to redo anything.

Public standards, zero black box

Scoring Table published in the Notice, public writing rubric, online calculator, and IRT-equalized test forms.

5

Multiple doors, multiple dates

Three cycles + single-day process + January Cycle, with guaranteed seats at every stage: applying later never means a closed door.

6

Genuine care & inclusion

Barrier-free specialized accommodations (medical reports can be submitted later), chosen name honored from registration, options for Sabbath observers, nursing room, and an official WhatsApp channel.

Yes. The application requires consent from your legal guardian, and the enrollment contract must be signed by them.

Yes — the CPF is your primary identifier to access the application process and a requirement for enrollment. Foreign applicants can obtain a CPF free of charge at Brazilian diplomatic missions abroad, or through Receita Federal (Brazilian Federal Revenue) offices and online services. For enrollment, a CRNM (National Migration Registration Card, formerly RNE) or an equivalent official receipt/protocol is also required.

Yes, provided you pay an application fee for each category. Your PREP results and interviews will count toward all of your applications — you won't need to repeat any stage.

Submissions deemed invalid can be resubmitted up until the cycle deadline without penalty — the platform will flag what needs to be adjusted. Note: providing false information at any point will result in disqualification.

Submissions can be sent before or after payment; however, review and validation by our team will only begin once payment is confirmed. If a request for adjustment is issued after the deadline, applicants will have 2 business days to resubmit.

PREP — the four submissions

Is the personal characteristics inventory evaluative?

No. Points are awarded solely for completion (5 points), and responses are not interpreted for selection purposes. Upon completion, you will immediately receive personalized self-knowledge feedback — a gift from the process, with no impact on your score.

Any teacher/professor, advisor, or principal/director who knows you. You generate an individual link on the platform and send it to them; they fill out a structured form and submit it directly. You will be able to track submission confirmation without having access to the content of the letter.

No. Points are awarded solely for a valid submission (5 points) — never based on the content of the recommendation or the prestige of the person signing it.

In up to 3 minutes: who you are, your background/journey, and why Psychology and APSY. A suggested outline is provided in the Applicant Handbook. Production quality, editing, and public speaking fluidity are not evaluated — points are awarded simply for submitting it. não são avaliadas — vale a entrega.

Yes — the requirement is an official document issued by your school or institution, legible and properly identified, even if partial.

Yes. The process is open to current high school seniors as well as graduates from any year. High school equivalency certifications obtained through ENEM, Encceja, or adult education (supletivo) exams are fully accepted upon enrollment.

Exam and Essay

What is the First Choice (Primeira Escolha) exam like?

It lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes, divided into two sections: a 2h30 Multiple-Choice Section (16 Language items + 16 Mathematics items across all difficulty levels, and 16 Mathematics items without high-difficulty questions) and a dedicated 1-hour Essay Section. The test assembly and grading use Item Response Theory (IRT) with equated forms — ensuring no test session is easier than another.

In each cycle, there are two sessions available — Saturday at 10:00 AM or Wednesday at 7:00 PM — and the choice is yours.

Yes, by applying in more than one cycle (or in the Phased Process as well). Your highest score will always stand — retaking the exam will never lower your score.

A computer (Windows 10+ or a supported macOS version) for which you have administrator privileges, equipped with a webcam, microphone, and a stable internet connection, located within national territory. Mobile phones and tablets are not permitted. Prior to each cycle, there is a mandatory equipment pre-test so you can check and validate everything in advance.

No — the system automatically saves your answers. Reconnect immediately and notify the proctor through the platform. Any technical failure confirmed by the audit trail that cannot be resolved during the session guarantees your rescheduling to the other session within the same cycle, with no penalty or disadvantage.

No. The format is open — personal essay, letter, analysis, critical reflection: you choose the structure. The prompt is revealed at the time of the exam and is related to psychology, people, and society. Length: up to 3,000 characters (minimum of 1,200 characters required). The only mandatory requirement is staying on topic.

Through a public rubric across two dimensions: A — writing standards and fundamentals (20 points), graded with the aid of an automated system alongside full human validation; B — expression and engagement/dialogue (30 points), evaluated exclusively by human readers. The final score (0–50) is converted to a 0–10 scale on your total score. No grade is determined solely by automated decisions.

Yes — the written essay is mandatory for all applicants (a federal regulatory requirement) and adds up to 10 points to your Preparatory Certification (Certificação Propedêutica). Applicants competing solely through standardized exam scores will take part in a dedicated 1-hour Essay session held on the same dates and times as the exam. Failure to complete the essay results in disqualification.

No. Cultural and thematic references are desirable, never mandatory: no one is penalized for not having read the assigned works, and any relevant, well-applied reference is equally valued — purely decorative citations do not earn points.

Free rescheduling until the application deadline for the respective cycle (Cycle 1: 09/02).

Certificates and External Exams

Which certificates and exams are accepted?

ENEM (2021–2026), SAT, and ACT (with official score reports sent directly by the testing agency), IB Diploma, A-Levels, AP, Abitur/DIA, Baccalauréat, Maturità, and academic olympiads listed on the official roster. Other international high school completion certificates may be accepted subject to review by the Admissions Committee.

The arithmetic average of your five scores (the four test subjects + the ENEM essay) is calculated; this average is then converted into that edition's national percentile, which is translated into points: (new rule: all five scores ≥ 500$, simple
average, bracket according to Appendix E) × 0,80. Any edition from 2021 through 2026 is valid — and you may submit more than one.

It is the minimum score required on each exam (approximately the 45th percentile) for that criterion to be accepted: SAT 990, ACT 19, IB 30, A-Levels BBB, AP score of 3 on 2+ exams, Maturità 75, and so on (full table in Appendix C of the Call for Applications). Below this cutoff, the credential is not counted — however, you remain eligible through the standard entrance exam. Between the floor cutoff and the 50th percentile, the credential qualifies you but earns 0 points.

As many as you have, at any time before your cycle deadline. All certificates are converted using the same grading scale, and your best score will stand.

No — that is precisely the purpose of the January CallDeclare the exam by your cycle's deadline along with proof of exam registration, and complete the remaining stages: your application remains active, you submit your scores by 01/20/2027, and you will compete in the 01/26 admissions call, which has 15 guaranteed spots.

Yes — taking the exam will never lower your score (your best result stands). It is a free second chance to improve your Objective Component.

From 24 points (honorable mention / entry-level medal) to 40 points (international medal), depending on the award level, earned during high school and verified through official public rosters. The list of eligible olympiads is specified in the Call for Applications (OBMEP, OBF, OBQ, OBI, IMO, IPhO, among others).

Interviews

How do I prepare for the interviews?

There is no "correct answer" to memorize: conversations stem from standardized scenarios (a short video or a descriptive case) to observe how you ask questions, listen, and compose yourself. The best preparation is to simply be yourself — evaluators use an anchored rubric along with your PREP file for context.

In person on campus, in date blocks per cycle (always Tuesday through Saturday). Applicants who declare an inability to attend in person may request to take the interview via videoconference during scheduling — through a simple self-declaration, with assisted support.

Yes, subject to consent, strictly for calibration, auditing, and quality control purposes, with restricted access and disposal within the timeframe specified in the Call for Applications' data policy.

No. Interviews are conducted only once per admissions cycle/edition, and your score is applied to all categories in which you compete.

Results, Cutoff Scores, and Available Seats

What is the cutoff score?

50 out of 100 points, along with the completion of all three stages (including the Essay). Offers of admission follow ranking order up to the seat limit for each category within the cycle.

It does not disqualify you — but in that scenario, admission would require maximum scores in both the PREP and the Interviews. In practice, anyone who submits a valid Essay already earns at least 1 point on the CP (Certificação Propedêutica).

On the official Admissions website, listed by applicant ID, on the scheduled calendar dates — with individual notifications sent via the platform and official WhatsApp.

There is no appeals stage, given the competitive ranking nature of the admissions process and the built-in integrity mechanisms: a public scoring rubric, double human review of written submissions, full human validation of any assisted scoring, and an audit trail for all test administrations.

You are automatically placed on the waitlist for the subsequent cycle, retaining all completed components — and you may, if you wish, attempt to improve your score (retaking the exam, submitting new certificates). Withdrawals reopen admissions calls until classes begin.

Not on your track: the Call for Applications guarantees a minimum offering of 15 spots in Cycle 2, 15 in Cycle 3, and 15 in the January Call. If prior admission calls exhaust the available balance, the total number of spots is expanded through a Supplemental Notice — those applying later will never find the door closed.

Enrollment, Tuition, and Scholarships

What is the Seat Reservation?

It is the confirmation of your spot following an offer of admission: an online request + a payment equivalent to the first month's tuition. In Cycle 1, confirmation is completed via Seat Reservation; starting in Cycle 2, the enrollment agreement is signed directly (prior Reservations are converted without any change in terms).

In full, for cancellation requests submitted by 12/11/2026. After this date, no refunds are issued for voluntary withdrawal — full statutory refunds provided by law remain unaffected (denial of enrollment, failure to complete high school on time, or institutional changes).

Government-issued photo ID, CPF, birth or marriage certificate, proof of residence, a recent photo, high school transcript and certificate of completion (ENEM, Encceja, and high school equivalency certificates are accepted), and proof of military clearance and voter registration compliance where applicable — all in digital format. Applicants under 18: documentation of their legal guardian. In all cases, a financial guarantor must be designated.

No problem: you reserve your spot and sign the enrollment agreement as usual, submitting your certificate of completion by 01/29/2027. If high school completion cannot be verified, your enrollment is voided with a full refund of all payments made.

For enrollment, you will need a Certificate of Academic Equivalence issued by the Brazilian educational authorities and a sworn translation of your academic transcript and graduation certificate, along with an Apostille. For the admissions selection process itself, foreign documents are accepted without translation.

Reference rate: R$ 6,700, to be confirmed in the enrollment agreement. Merit scholarships are awarded to top-ranking applicants — per the terms in Item 17 — on the final rank lists of both the Continuous and Phased admissions tracks (governed by a separate Scholarship Notice); need-based scholarships and special terms follow a dedicated policy published on the website.

Accessibility, Personal Data, and Institution

I need specialized accommodations (extra time, accessibility).

Indicate this in the designated form during application or until the deadline for your cycle. The medical report can be attached later — not having it ready does not block your request or your application. The admissions team's initial outreach is supportive, aiming to understand your needs and coordinate accommodations; extra time is applied per section of the exam.

Yes, without any additional procedures beyond selecting your dates: every Saturday session has an equivalent alternative (Wednesday exam, Phased track on Friday or Sunday, interviews Tuesday through Friday).

Yes — this preference is collected right at the beginning of registration, and the social name is used in all communications, lists, and credentials throughout the admissions process.

Screen, audio, and video of the session, with live monitoring by proctors. Recordings have restricted access and are discarded within 12 months after the conclusion of the admissions cycle, unless an investigation is ongoing — all in accordance with the LGPD. For applicants under 18, specific consent from a legal guardian is required.

The institution is currently undergoing a transfer of its sponsoring entity (transferência de mantença) with the MEC (Ministry of Education). The MPT is the public document that compiles institutional information subject to updates during this administrative process, including a dated history of each change. This process does not affect regular operations, the validity of the program's official acts, or any conditions set forth in this Call for Applications — and in case of any discrepancy, the terms of the Call for Applications prevail.
